6/24/17. Day 6 Riverside layover day
Miles: 0. Total Miles: 258.5

Legs are tired, tent site is good (with amenities), and our bottoms need a rest.  We get a great surprise from a new friend.

Yes, even seasoned cyclists need to give their bums a break. We had all the conveniences we needed here at Margie’s RV camp. We slept in (until 7:20) then had a breakfast of canned peaches, a banana, and granola, with TWO cups of coffee - a luxury! I started the laundry (coin op!) and we read books and caught up on journaling.

When I went to get the laundry from the dryer, I met a friendly young woman named Chrissy. She couldn’t understand whey anyone would ever ride a bike across the country. The we got talking about her horses and how she loves riding her horse out in the country on trail rides. I told her it was (mostly) the same - a bike or a horse. Then she started to see the light.

A little while later Chrissy came over to our tent and asked if we’d like to go with her to Omak Lake for a swim. Surprise!  Hot dog! You bet. Omak lake was about 25 min by car and is on the Colville Reservation, but open to all to use. There were only about a dozen people there - the lake is huge, blue, and beautiful. It has a higher solution of salts and minerals and said to have healing powers. I’m all in because I could use some healing with my aching body. We swam and sat in the sun for about an hour before heading back to Margies.

That night, we took our new best friend Chrissy out to the Riverside Bar and Grill for a delicious dinner (Burger, salads, whiskey, & beer). Doug and I headed back to camp to build a bonfire and enjoy the evening
