What you need to know to choose your bike and set it up properly.

Choosing your Ride: Stationary Bike V Bike on Trainer

There are two main ways you can ride inside.  We'll explore the options of using your own bike on a trainer or what is needed in a stationary bike.

DOWNLOAD THE Pros & Cons of Stationary Bike VS Bike on a Trainer.

Here is what I recommend: I love a bike on a trainer - I use that myself at home. I put a couple of Amazon links for you (of course you can order directly from manufacturer as well). They are each around $300 and are VERY durable. I've had my Kurt Kinetic Road Machine for 10 years!

I love this one: Kurt Kinetic Road Machine: https://amzn.to/2I2VbpX

This is also a very dependable Trainer: Saris Cycle Ops Fluid Trainer: https://amzn.to/38hbEkN
Trainers can get VERY fancy and expensive, or made cheaply. I recommend the "fluid" trainers instead of magnetic resistance or air resistance. Fluid is quiet and smooth.

Stationary bikes are great too, but for a good one, you'll pay $2000 or more.
My favorite, if you want to go that route, is the Keiser M3i https://amzn.to/3paXjMR
At a bare minimum for a stationary bike, you’ll want a readout of RPM (not the same as MPH), and an easy to use gear shifter or tension knob, PLUS 4 adjustment points: Handlebar Height, Handlebar forward/backward, Seat Height, Seat Forward/Backward.

So if you already have a bike, then a trainer is a very good option for you! Inside of Healthy Knees Formula, there are videos about Trainer V Stationary bike and how to set up your bike. So don't worry, we have you covered!

Bike Seats:  There are options!

The biggest complaint - BY FAR - that I receive about cycling is that your tush gets sore.  Have no worries, I will show you several options to soften your ride and give more support.

Here is an Amazon Affiliate link for a bike seat cover that we've used and appreciate at our Club: Bike Seat Cover.  A bike seat cover will give you a little more cush for your tush without having to buy a completely different saddle.

Bike Shoes & Pedals: Toe Cages and Clip-in

We'll look at toe cages and clip-in options in order to attach your foot to the pedal.

If you are looking for a pair of pedals with one side that is flat with Toe Cages, and the other side a clip-in SPD pedal (comes with the cleats you attach to your shoes), here is an Amazon Affiliate link to pedals that I recommend:  Dual Toe Cage/SPD Pedals
